Ligature-Induced Periodontitis Model

For the development of animal models of periodontitis, a method of ligation of the second maxillary molar tooth has been used which allows to identify the most appropriate sites to evaluate inflammatory bone loss in a valid and reproducible manner. This model is used to evaluate the host response and its effects on the gingiva and bone under well-controlled conditions

STUDY ENDPOINT
  • MPO levels
  • Cytokine analysis and other inflammatory markers (TNFa, IL-1b, SAA, KC)
  • Blood collections and analysis
  • Stool collections for Next-Generation DNA Sequencing technology (NGS) analysis of microbiota
  • Tissue collections
  • Histopathologic analysis
